Work the Dream

I love Dave Ramsey for so many reasons.

His wisdom has helped my family stay afloat during trying times.

Simple, straightforward advice.  Just what this crazy busy life needs.

My most favorite quote is this…

So what does a financial guru have to do with a handmade business?  Actually a lot!  When I first started sewing for an income it was to generate a side hustle to help out our family finances.  Now using his principles I am building my dream of working successfully for myself.

It’s all in the dream.  The plan to move out of the classroom and into a self sustaining endeavor.  Waking up early and making the most out of each moment.  Engaging and building a community that fills each other up.  That is what is driving me to get after it when all I want to do is just sit.

Dreams don’t happen just because you wish really hard.  They come true because you work really hard.

So how do you stay motivated when you’re just plain tired?  For me it’s all about the bigger picture.  Where do you want to be?  How are you going to get there?  Is there a way you can reach your goal in manageable chunks?  Stop and figure out a strategy.

My current strategy is to get things organized in an assembly line fashion.  Using beautiful fabrics that I find mixed in with my tried and true prints keeps me excited!  I love, love fabric, so putting together an essential oil pouch out of an amazing new print is my carrot!  I get jazzed and then work becomes fun!  How cool is that?!?  Enjoying the process is just as important as the final outcome.  Am I right?!?

It’s not all rainbows and unicorns, but it is all so very worth it!
